BIG CAT SANCTUARY

Caring for cats, preparing for all scenarios

When FOUR PAWS took over the Big Cat Sanctuary in Nijeberkoop (NL), a brand new complex was needed to house rescued lions (Panthera leo) and tigers (Panthera tigris). Neither the dens nor outdoor enclosures are designed for public display instead focuses on optimal and flexible holding of different species of big cats. Safety to avoid escapes and a good working flow for the keepers have been highly prioritised as well as special concerns for ageing big cats.

Assisting lead designer Monika Fiby, we provided technical drawings and specifications as well as zoo and animal management experience.
