Sometimes an idea is not quite ready for the design phase or a potential project area is in play without a specific use in mind. Working by reference we can help brainstorm and inspire the early conversations and ideas. We believe that collaboration is key and can facilitate internal workshops that bring together the key players of a potential project and make sure it is covered from all angles. 

We can provide professional sparring sessions and on-site visits to help determine what sort of projects are worth pursuing, or even begin the groundwork for a masterplan. We offer consulting services on not only design, but also educational themes and storylines, animal species selection, zoo management and zoo horticulture.  

Not all those employed in zoo design projects have existing knowledge of animals, education, visitors experience or plants. Many projects are run by architects with no previous zoo experience, and while outside perspectives are very useful, sometimes having a zoo designer on the team can prevent issues surfacing further down the road. We can assist in qualifying existing concepts and drawings, working with the external designers to ensure that all bases are covered and that the project meets the client’s standards.
